SCRIPTURES:
19 His mother and his brothers came to see him. But they couldn't meet with him because of the crowd. 20 Someone told Jesus, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside. They want to see you."
21 He answered them, "My mother and my brothers are those who hear and do what God's word says." Luke 8:19-21
- Jesus is telling that how do we member of Jesus family
OBSERVATIONS:
Jesus has earthly family :
Mark 3:21 And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, "He is out of his mind."
Clearly Mary did not understand fully what Jesus was doing - and his brothers we know did not believe at this time (they did later - especially James, who became a leader in the early church and wrote the letter of James).
Earlier in his life when Mary and Joseph came to find Jesus in Jerusalem He told them "I must be about My Father's business" but went back with them obediently - it wasn't time to begin his public ministry. There may come that time for you too. Jesus did not stop honoring his father and mother - he wasn't severing his relationship with them.
The Family of God takes precedence over the family of earth : Luke 14:26-27 "If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters - yes, even his own life - he cannot be my disciple. 27 And anyone who does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.
APPLICATIONS:
-We need to ask ourselves What is priority in our life ?
-We need to have GOD's first mindset
-Jesus takes in absolutely anyone who will bow their heart to Him.
PRAYER.
Heavenly Father, please help us to part of your family and always give first preference to your word

Scripture :
Luke 8 : 19 to 21
Now Jesus' mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. 20 Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you."
21 He replied, "My mother and brothers are those who hear God's word and put it into practice."
Observation :
Our relationship with God can grow as intimate as like Mother and Brothers. God always wants to have an intimate relationship with us but its the attitude of us which can take it closer or far. Here we clearly see the criteria God is defining to be called his close relationship (Mother or Brothers). So it is those who hear the God's word and put it into practice will be his close relationship
Application :
Help me to understand just being in the circle of Christianinty doesn't mean we are closer to God. We might have born in a christian family and be regular to church and church activities we may be even active in God's ministry but if we are not hearing and practicing God's word we will be disappointed in the last day when we meet Jesus. As we read in Mathew 7:21-23
21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'
Prayer :
Dear Lord help me to hear your word and obey and practice your word so that we can walk closer to to you

Scripture Luke 8:19-21 (Family of God)
19 Then his mother and his brothers[a] came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd. 20 And he was told, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see you." 21 But he answered them, "My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it."
Jesus, here talked to His disciples about the importance of doing what Father God wants us to do. We are part of God's spiritual family since the time we were born again in Christ.
Observation:
When Jesus started His ministries, His first voice is to be obedient to His father. Moreover His earthly family didn't believe Him first even though after resurrection His brothers became the disciples of Christ. [John 1:12, But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God]
We are the Children of God because the Love of God poured to us through the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ (I John 3:1-2). We were once enemies of God. (Colossians 1:21-22).
If we are the family of God, then God wants us to be an obedient children and do what He asked us to do not with fake obedience but true heart felt obedience.
In Matthew 21, Jesus talked about parable of 2 sons where one son said, he won't go to the vineyard to work but afterward changed his mind and went rather than the other son who said he will go but never did.
Jesus also gave much important to Spiritual family than even His earthly family when it comes to first priority & love. [Luke 14:26, If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple]
Application:
Jesus even when he walked on this earth was very careful to do the will of God for Him. In John 4:34, Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.
We should do all Jesus preached in the sermon on the mount just as He finished by telling a parable about the one who built house on the Rock. He is like someone who not only hears the word but does them. [Matthew 7:24-26]
We have to do the will of God and those are the one who abides forever [I John 2:16,17]
Prayer:
Please help me to be the obedient son to do all the commandments of God
