When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? 2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? 3 Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! 4 So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? 5 I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, 6 but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers? 7 To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? 8 But you yourselves wrong and defraud--even your own brothers![a]

9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous[b] will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,[c] 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:1-11 [Lawsuits Against Believers]

When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? 2 Or do

you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try

trivial cases? 3 Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life! 4 So if

you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church? 5 I say this to your shame. Can it

be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers, 6 but brother goes to law against

brother, and that before unbelievers? 7 To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather

suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? 8 But you yourselves wrong and defraud--even your own brothers![a]

9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous[b] will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually

immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,[c] 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards,

nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were

sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Observation:
when you have dispute with another go to lords people instead ungodly people.
saints will judge the world and even angels.
Be wise and settle your disputes among yourselves.
Instead to have lawsuits with one another better to suffer the wrong and better to be defrauded.

Application:

do not dispute with fellow brother infront of non believers
do not be deceived. wrong doers will not inherit inherit the kingdom of god.
We will be justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Prayer:

Lord wash us, sanctify us by your precious blood and we want to inherit the kingdom of god.

OBSERVATIONS:
The Corinthians were quite fond of law and lawsuits. It was actually entertaining for them to be a part of a legal action and to try to figure out penalties.this being the culture, the habit of bringing a lawsuit against someone seeped into the church. The Apostle Paul was not impressed with this behavior and sharply rebukes the Church for settling their differences in this way.
Someone in the Church at Corinth was following the pattern of old habits and using a natural recourse to assert his rights. In other words, he was suing the pants off a fellow Christian.Paul responds, "If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints?". It is is really disturbing is the ignorance of such a person to bring church troubles before secular courts, pagan judges who have no understanding of the family God, of what divine forgiveness is like, or of what peacemaking is all about.

-A pastor sued his denomination for age discrimination because he could not find a church willing to hire him for the salary he demanded.
-The board of trustees of a Baptist church in Louisiana filed suit to remove their pastor from his position. A few days later, another group, claiming to be the real trustees, filed a counter suit, asking that those who had filed the previous suit be removed as church members.
-A family in Illinois sued their church for injuries their 15-year-old son suffered at a church picnic when he fell out of a tree

The Bible clearly tells us that we are going to be a part of God's judgment of the world at the end of times. We are going to rule and reign with Jesus.Paul goes deeper still into the reason that we as Christians should avoid lawsuits. The fact is it brings downright shame to the church. The real shame is that the dirty laundry of the church is aired out for the whole world to see. "But instead, one brother goes to law against another and this in front of unbelievers! The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already.

APPLICATIONS

-"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind..." (Rom 12:2)
-Our pride can easily lead us to situations where we get heated and frustrated. Then if the Spirit is allowed, we are humbled and brought low so that God can show us how stupid, really stupid we have been.
-Paul is asking us to do is consider our behavior as a church, as a family of God, and to ask ourselves "How are we treating each other?" Because the world is watching and wondering what makes us different

Lawsuits Against Believers

6 When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? 2 Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases...
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Observation:
1) As believers we ought to live at peace with all Men [Romans 12:18] through the love and humility of Christ. That is the mark of our fellowship with Christ. Our Lord Christ himself emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant being born in the likeness of Men.

Christ also wants us to reconcile and come to terms quickly with our accuser while we are going with him to the court [Matthew 5:25]. Also in Luke 12:57-58, says "And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? 58 As you go with your accuser before the magistrate, make an effort to settle with him on the way, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer.

We should not move an ancient landmark; or enter the fields of the fatherless for Lord will plead their cause against you [Proverbs 23:10]. Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you [James 5:4]

2) Only the Sanctified person with the transformed life in Christ will only inherit the kingdom of God.

Application:
We should resolve the dispute matters among Christian brothers and Sister through the Love of God and the leading of Holy Spirit. We should be united as one body under the headship of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Even in Old testament times, the one who is more Spiritual and more mature have let the youngest one to choose the best part of land during the time of dispute. [Genesis 13:8] - Then Abram said to Lot, "Let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen, for we are kinsmen.[a] 9 Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me.

We ought to bear one another as mentioned in Colossians 3:13.

Prayer:
Lord, help us to be patient and be at peace with all brothers and sisters.
