Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: 2 You know that[a] you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb[b] idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus [c]accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.

4 There are [d]diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works [e]all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by [f]the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Unity and Diversity in One Body
12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink [g]into one Spirit. 14 For in fact the body is not one member but many.

15 If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body? 16 And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body," is it therefore not of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? 18 But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. 19 And if they were all one member, where would the body be?

20 But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." 22 No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23 And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, 24 but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, 25 that there should be no [h]schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. 26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But earnestly desire the [i]best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.

Scripture:
1 Corinthians 12 [Unity and Diversity in One Body]

Observation:

Paul wants us to understand the different spiritual gifts.
only through holy spirit we can accept Jesus christ as lord and saviour. so we should ask for spiritual gifts.
There are different spiritual gifts but the sprit is same, ministries - lord, activities - god
word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healings, working of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, different kinds of tongues, the interpretation of tongues but all shared from the same holy spirit
though there are many organs the body is one. same way we are from different backgrounds but we are babtized as one body as church with in one sprit
as body contructed by different kind of organs the church also built by us having outward difference in us.
No organ neither great and nor low. ech organ has its very own function to perform and as a whole they are functioning as a body.
All parts are important. Pain in one part felt by all others.
same way there are many roles. God assigned the role based on their ability.
apostles, prophets, teachers, miracles, gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. But we all of acts as a whole as body of christ.

Application:

we should desire for spritual gifts
As we are part of christ we have to take care of one another. if one member suffers, all the members suffer, or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
we are individually as a member/organ and as a whole we are part of body of christ the church.

Prayer:

Lord eventhough we have differences in various aspects bless us with one mind and one sprit with in you lord.

OBSERVATIONS:

- Spiritual gifts make believer strong and bring unity - I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong-- 12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith.- Romans 1: 11,12

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.- Romans 8:26
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal -2 Corinthians 4:18

- For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.- Ephesians 6:12

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come - John 16:13

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
However, even though the Holy Spirit made us one in Christ and gave us spiritual gifts that we must use for one another's edification, we must still labor to keep this unity in the Spirit. Paul said this: "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace" (Ephesians 4:3).

APPLICATION

- Holy Sprit is a helper to help us to overcome all our sins and temptation.
- We are wrestle against spiritual forces, so we need to seek holy spirit earnestly
-Holy sprit produces many gifts and it will help us bring unity

Observation:

1) Holy Spirit is crucial for our Salvation
With the Spirit we are acknowledged that we are children of God. [Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, ] Also, Galatians 4:6 says, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, [b]"Abba, Father!"

2) Identification of spirit of Antichrist
I John 4:3, every spirit that does not confess [a]that Jesus [b]Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist

3) Ministries of Holy Spirit
According to God's will, Holy Spirit provides the gifts and manifests for the profit of all and empowers them in everyone. Depending on God's sovereignity, Holy Spirit God provides gifts according to His will as it says in Romans 2:11 For there is no partiality with God.

4) Unity among various Spiritual gifts
Paul compares the various gifts that are operate under same Holy Spirit with whole body with different members, so also in Christ. With one Spirit we were all baptized into one body whether Jews or Gentiles, free or slaves. Similarly, God appointed these ministries in Church: Apostles, Prophets, Teachers and Miracle workers, Interpreters of tongues. But the head of church is Christ. (Colossians 1:18)

Application:
Above all we should seek Holy Spirit and Jesus for our ministry and walk on the earth. We are not seeing God for his Spiritual gifts (or) His ministries but because of Who He is and What He has done for us.

God will give us the fullness of His Spirit and as mentioned in Romans 8:32, He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Also, Jesus mentioned in Luke 11:13, If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"

Let us seek the giver of gifts and ministries who is Holy Spirit.

John the Baptist was filled with Holy Spirit even in his mother's womb. Although, John didn no miracles he revealed Christ to the world. He spoke of Jesus Christ through Holy Spirit...[John 10:41 - Then many came to Him and said, "John performed no sign, but all the things that John spoke about this Man were true."]

Prayer:
Dear Lord, please help us to walk in the fullness of Holy Spirit like Jesus who was full of Holy Spirit [Luke 4:1]
